Indra


Draupadi - wife of the Pandavas

  • won by Duryodhana from Yudishthir at dice
  • chanted Krishna's name asking him to protect her from being undressed by Duryodhana
  • Krishna made her the of her sari get eternally longer so Dushasana could never remove it
  • when given 3 requests she asked Dhritarashtra she only asked for two, that Yudhishthira be freed from slavery and that freedom for the Pandavas and their kingdom, saying that the Pandavas did not need any other help
Bhima
  • vowed to wage war on the Kauravas and bring an end to their line
  • while exiled asked by Draupadi to get her lotus flowers
  • met Hanuman while looking for the flowers and was chastised for waking all the anmals
  • could not move even Hanuman's tail
  • brother of Hanuman
  • Hanuman agreed to give him a boon to help in the war
Duryodhana
  • decided to get the Pandavas back for another game of dice
  • convinced Dhritarashtra to invite the Pandavas for the game
  • had complete control over the kingdom after the Pandavas were exiled
Pandavas and Draupadi
  • agreed to attend another rigged dice game
  • lost and were exiled for 12 years
  • so loved by the people of Hastinapur wanted to follow them
  • lived like aesthetics during their exile
  • visited by Narad Muni while exiled and while Arjuna was training in Indralok
    • Narad Muni instructed them to go on pilgrimages
  • went on pilgrimages after being informed by Indra through Lomasa to do so stopping at many holy places and performing austerities
 Krishna
  • tried to convince the Pandavas to fight their exile and begin the war with the Kauravas right away, but Yudhishthira pointed out that he was acting emotionally. Krishna then calmed down and vowed his support when the time comes
  • regretted not being able to help the Pandavas because he was defending his kingdom of Dwarka from King Shalva
Kirmira - Rakshasa, brother of Bakasur, friend of Hidimba
  • sought out Bhima to get revenge for killing his brother
  • killed by the Pandavas
Shalva - friend of Shishupal who was killed by Krishna
  • attacked Krishna's city of Dwarka to get revenge for his friend's death
  • worshipped Shiva and was given a flying ship that couldn't be destroyed
  • killed when Krishna used his sudarshan chakra to cut off his head
Ved Vyasa - a great sage
  • told the Pandavas that Arjuna should get celestial weapons from Shiva and Indra
Arjuna
  • performed his penance to Shiva on Mount Himavat by praying to Shiva while standing on his toes and eating only leaves
  • Shiva appeared before him as a hunter
  • fought Shiva after as a hunter he attacked the same boar as Arjuna
  • received the Pasupata weapon from Shiva after apologizing for fighting him
  • asked by Shiva to worship Indra, Arjuna's father
  • visited by many other gods who gave him their weapons
    • Varun, the god of the seas, gave him the noose to help him seize enemies
    • Kuber gave him the Antardhan Astra to put enemies to sleep
    • Yamraj gave him his mace
  • invited by Indra to heaven
    • learned to use Indra's thunderbolt from Indra
    • learned dance and mushic from Chitrasen
    • Arjuna was not happy in heaven, Indralok
  • cursed by Uvrashi
Uvrashi - an apsara
  • happy to learn that Arjuna was attracted to her
  • asked Arjuna to marry her
  • Arjuna refused because the was the mother of the Kuru dynasty and he thought of her as his mother
  • very angry at Arjuna for refusing her
  • cursed Arjuna to live the rest of his life as an impotent eunuch and dancer
